If using solid fuels, please be aware that they will discolour polished or brass products. If this is a concern, we recommend selecting a full black finish. Do not use anthracite or petroleum coke, which significantly reduces the product's life.

All our gas fires are manufactured in the UK and comply with all CE requirements and British standard BSEN509:2000. They come complete with a flame failure device and oxygen depletion system. All gas fires must be fitted by a Gas Safe registered installer.

This cast iron combination fireplace comes with a 3 year guarantee. The ashpan & firebrick have a 1 year guarantee.

Care Instructions

For a full polish finish, keep oiled using a thin coat of light oil such as 3-in-1. Perform this treatment twice a year or as required. Remove any surface rust using fine wire wool cloth and re-oil. Avoid exposing the cast iron surface to moisture. Cast iron is a natural material subject to minor imperfections and should be considered part of its charm. For a highlight/black finish, coat with an iron paste and buff up to enhance the finish of your fireplace. Do not use spray polish.

Cast Iron Combination Fireplace, The Valentine is an Art Nouveau cast iron fireplace with a symmetrical pomegranate motif stretching from the frieze's centre to fill the framework's legs. Inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, which arose as a reaction to the negative impacts of industrialisation and the way objects were manufactured. William Morris, the arts and crafts pioneer, thought that artistic skill should be expressed in all products rather than just 'fine art.' The tile holders on each side of the fireplace's elegant canopy help bring our cast iron fireplaces to life. Cast iron holds heat efficiently, creating a pleasant atmosphere and warming significant areas. Cast iron fireplaces can be used with either solid fuel e.g. coal or wood and gas. An Ashpan is required for solid fuel consumption (included when you select the solid fuel option). A Multiglow gas insert is also available, providing a coal-effect fire with actual flames and coals (included when selecting the gas option). You can specify which fuel consumption you require when selecting your options before adding to the cart.

Please keep in mind that our fireplaces do not come complete with tiles. You have the option of adding our pre selected tiles in your order or the entire range is available here which are all compatible with this combimation fireplace.

Depending on the floor material the fireplace place is installed on, you may need to position it on top of a granite hearth (seen in the image but not included as standard). Stone floors do not require a hearth; however, any other material will require one of our granite hearths e.g. wood or carpet. The size of the hearth is personal preference and available space, both our options fit this fireplace.
