The Scotia is an Early Victorian cast iron fireplace insert. A double archway surrounds the Scotia's opening. It has two incredibly intricate distinctive designs running alongside the arc, complementing one another without overpowering the other. The subtle beading of the inner arch elegantly complements the patterning that surrounds the outer arc. The ash cover and bars are curved to match the insert's style. Cast iron holds heat efficiently, creating a pleasant atmosphere and warming significant areas. Cast iron fireplaces can be used with either solid fuel, e.g. coal or wood and gas. An Ashpan is required for solid fuel consumption (included when you select the solid fuel option). A Multiglow gas insert is also available, providing a coal-effect fire with actual flames and coals (included when determining the gas option). You can specify which fuel consumption you require when selecting your options before adding to the cart. This cast iron fireplace insert comes with a three-year guarantee. Depending on the type of fuel you need, the ashpan or firebrick has a one-year guarantee.

Depending on the floor material the fireplace place is installed on, you may need to position it on top of a granite hearth (seen in the image but not included as standard). Stone floors do not require a hearth; however, any other material will need one of our granite hearths, e.g. wood or carpet.

The Scotia Victorian Cast Iron Fireplace Insert is pictured here with our Edwardian Cast Iron Fireplace Surround. Both are available separately or can be added to your cart by selecting the option on this page. Alternatively, view our full range of fireplace surrounds here.

Please note all measurements are approximate and may vary slightly. Please allow a tolerance of plus/minus 10mm. We endeavour to ensure that all colours are as accurate as possible. However, we recommend you check with us before placing an order.

If using solid fuels, please be aware that they will discolour polished or brass products. If this is a concern, we recommend selecting a full black finish. Do not use anthracite or petroleum coke, which significantly reduces the product's life.

All our gas fires are manufactured in the UK and comply with all CE requirements and British standard BSEN509:2000. They come complete with a flame failure device and oxygen depletion system. All gas fires must be fitted by a Gas Safe registered installer.

This cast iron combination fireplace comes with a 3 year guarantee. The ashpan & firebrick have a 1 year guarantee.

Care Instructions

For a full polish finish, keep oiled using a thin coat of light oil such as 3-in-1. Perform this treatment twice a year or as required. Remove any surface rust using fine wire wool cloth and re-oil. Avoid exposing the cast iron surface to moisture. Cast iron is a natural material subject to minor imperfections and should be considered part of its charm. For a highlight/black finish, coat with an iron paste and buff up to enhance the finish of your fireplace. Do not use spray polish.
